One Hundred Years on the Plateau
In 2027 the Highlands Biological Station turns one hundred. We are marking it all year.
A century ago, a handful of scientists decided that a small town at 4,118 feet, in one of the most biologically rich temperate landscapes on the planet, deserved a permanent place to study it. A hundred years of research, teaching, and conservation followed.
Through 2027 we will be celebrating that century with exhibits drawn from our own archives, lectures from the researchers shaping the next hundred years, and gatherings across the Nature Center, the gardens, and the laboratory.
In place of our usual biennial symposium, the centennial takes the year.
A hundred years in the making; the calendar is taking a few more months. We are hard at work pulling it together — stay tuned.
