CNIPM 2022 Summer Seminar

We are excited to announce the CNIPM 2022 Summer Seminar! Heather Alley (Conservation Horticulturist at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia) will be speaking about “Exotic Invasive Plants in the Blue Ridge: What We Stand to Lose”.

Invasive organisms, including plants, are among the top five causes of biodiversity decline during the present era of great extinction. The Highlands area is particularly vulnerable as one of the great biodiversity hotspots in North America. The good news is that there is still a lot left to save and protect and what you plant and allow to persist in your landscape can make a difference. This presentation will showcase efforts of the Georgia Plant Conservation Alliance to save endangered plant habitats in our region from exotic invasive plants, and highlight plants to avoid in our area and beneficial and beautiful native plants that we can embrace in our home gardens and landscapes instead.

After the presentation, please join us for a tour of local gardens showcasing some of the lovely native plants you can incorporate into your home landscape AND  a how-to on identifying some of our non-native invasive species. Garden locations are still TBD so stay tuned.
