About the Symposium

The North American Plecoptera Symposium (NAPS) is a triennial meeting of stonefly researchers and enthusiasts. Attendees share ongoing work, collect local specimens, and connect in a close-knit environment with 15–20 participants.

Agenda

Day 1 Tuesday, May 12th

○ Check in at Highlands Biological Station beginning at 10 am.

○ Lunch/Meeting welcome and participant introductions 12–1 pm.

○ History of the Highlands Biological Station 1–1:30 pm. (If someone from the station is willing to present)

○ NAPS 2029 proposal 1:30–1:40.

○ Stonefly presentations 1:45–4:45pm

○ Dinner 5–6pm

○ Optional local evening collecting 6 pm–dark

Day 2 Wednesday, May 13th

○ Breakfast and coffee at Highlands Biological Station at 8–9 am.

○ Stonefly presentations 9–11am.

○ Lunch 11 am –12 pm

○ Stonefly presentations 12–3 pm

○ Photo editing workshop 3–5pm

○ Dinner at Highlands Biological Station 5:30–6:30 pm.

○ Evening field collections (optional) 6:30 pm–dark

Day 3 Thursday, May 14th

○ Optional Breakfast and coffee at Highlands Biological Station 8 am.

○ Stonefly presentations (if needed) 9–11 am

○ Meeting Summary 11–11:30 am

○ Optional Lunch at Highlands Biological Station 11:30 – 12:30

○ Business Meeting, including discussion of next NAPS Meeting 12:30 – 1:30.

○ Optional field trip (Wayah Bald) 11 am – 5 pm

○ Optional overnight

○ Dinner, left overs or Dinner in town.

Friday, May 15th
