About this course

Explore the diversity of ferns and their allies in the Southern Appalachians through hands-on fieldwork and laboratory study. Students will learn to identify seedless vascular plants using dichotomous keys, examine their morphology, ecology, evolution, and life cycles, and collect specimens during daily field excursions. The course emphasizes practical identification skills and the development of personal reference collections.
