1930–1931 | Choosing the Lake

When the Board of Trustees of the Highlands Museum and Biological Laboratory sought a permanent home, one need was clear: water.

With support from donors including Clark Williams of New York, the Board secured control of the shoreline. In 1931, construction began on the Samuel T. Weyman Memorial Laboratory.

The lake was no longer ornamental. It was essential.
